Auckland has many great places to explore with a dog. The best choice depends on whether your dog enjoys open fields, coastal paths, swimming or quiet walks.

Meola Reef Dog Park in Point Chevalier has a large fenced off-leash area and harbour views. Waiatarua Reserve in Remuera offers walking tracks, wetlands and a place for dogs to swim.

Hobsonville Point is another good option. Dogs can exercise in the fenced area at Bomb Point, while the surrounding coastal walkway can be enjoyed on a lead.

For dogs that love the beach, Kakamatua offers sand, water and plenty of space to explore.

Rules can vary between different areas and seasons. Always read the signs, keep your dog under control and protect birds and other wildlife.
